Lesson 1

Hardware Requirement:

1. A windows operating system with any version like window 98, 2000, Me, NT, XP or
Vista.
2. A ram of at least 32 MB.
3. Hard disk of 10 GB.


How to start:

After Installation it creates a shortcut on Desktop Named Tally 5.4.
Click on that Icon and wait a given page will be appear along with shown Options:

1. Select Option: - It’s used to Select the Company’s form the list appear after Pressing

Enter Button or Clicking on it twice.

Steps: { i }. Click or Enter on select option, a list of companies will appear.
{ ii }. Select your company name and press Enter.
{ iii}. It will show u a Screen with named Direct Command’s. Basically
This screen is used for making simple calculations. Now press F1
For moving forward to main window.
{IV}. It will show you a Window with name “Gateway of Tally”
It’s the main screen from our main work is going to be started.
We will discuss that in next topic.

2. Create Option: - It’s used for creating a New Company. When we enter or Click on this

option of Company Information, a Form named “Company Creation”

will be shown on screen. It will show you as shown below.

Note:-
Name : here we have to write the name of company.
Address : write the address of your company.
Income Tax Pan : write the Permanent Account No. of owner of
Company. Income tax Dep gives it.
Local Sales-Tax Regn : Its for a Local sales tax no given by your state gov.
I/S Sales Tax Regn. : It’s given by central government of country.
Financial Year : A period to business from 01st Apr. to 31st Mar.
Book beginning from : A period to maintaining the financial year.
Method of Security : It will give you 3 choices.
1. No Security
2. Tally Vault
3. Password
Note: Use no security if you are Beginner and if you are working in some company then I will go for password but a little thing in password that you cant make changes in company or already created vouchers.

After creating a new company go on select option and follow the steps.

3. Display Option: - It’s used for viewing the detail filled in company creation form
during creating a new company.

Note: It will work when u select a company.

4. Alter Option: - It’s used for making changes in the company detail and according
to every Screen it will make changes. For example: if you are at
company info menu it will help you in making changes in company
detail’s. If you are at ledger creation it will help you in making
changes in ledger account.

5. Back- up :- It is used for creating Back-up, means it will compress the data of
company at some storing device from which we can retrieve latter.
For safety of data it is used.

6. Restore :- For resorting the Compressed data in normal form, so that we can
read it.

7. Recovery of data : For checking the validity of data in tally.

8. Quit : For going one step backward, if you are at company info. It will exit from tally.
